Numbers lie. They just do.
At the time I'm writing this article two of the best pitchers in Major League Baseball are leading the National League in having the highest ERA. Does that mean they are the worst pitchers in their league? Of course not. It just means that right now they are struggling. But lucky for them and lucky for you the baseball season is a long one.
DON'T PAY ANY ATTENTION TO YOUR CURRENT BATTING AVERAGE OR ERA.
Whether your numbers are great or terrible at this time, it doesn't matter. All that matters is where you finish the season at. Or, if you really want to take your mindset to the next level, don't worry about your numbers ever. Just worry about getting better every day. Your numbers will eventually settle where they're supposed to. Focus on the task at hand-what do I need to do to get better today?
Every single player I played with or against found themselves in slumps. The ones that approached it constructively, are the ones who dug themselves out the quickest. If you are struggling right now, you are not in uncharted territory. Welcome to the club.
If you are putting up great numbers right now, then AWESOME! Don't take your foot off the gas. Complacency is a killer. You can find yourself on a downward slide quick. Keep plugging away. Keep getting better.
Regardless of where you find yourself right now, good or bad, keep your head down and keep doing the work. The cream always rises to the top.
